When KAN were formed in December of 2009, Brian Finnegan (Flook), Aidan O’Rourke (LAU), Ian Stephenson (Baltic Crossing) and Jim Goodwin (RLP) were already known improvisers and innovators. They had previously collaborated either in the studio or in a live setting and their mutual respect and nuanced perspective on performing and composing fostered a space where new ideas and new sound flourished; Kan became a canvas for their inventiveness.

Sleeper was released in 2012 and by then they had evolved into an irrepressible live act with a loyal and quickly growing fan base. Ten years fallow, KAN rekindled the fire again at Celtic Connections 2025.

Playing their seminal album sleeper to a capacity crowd in St Lukes, conjuring up the trademark sonic punch and genre weaving musicality that made them a formidable live force. Their return to the fold is a thrilling proposition, weaving new narratives and life experiences into the groundbreaking ‘Sleeper’.
