Rocky (X-Press 2)

Rocky started DJing in the mid-80s, playing hip-hop, jazz, soul, and funk. The first Rocky and Diesel gig debuted in 1988, as the Acid House wave was breaking in the UK. In 1990, Rocky remixed tracks for The Farm and other bands and teamed up with Ashley Beedle in 1992, recording their first X-Press 2 record, “Muzik Express.” In 1995, X-Press 2 landed a six-month DJ residency at the legendary Liverpool club Cream. Rocky’s connections to Ibiza are deep. If it wasn’t for Ibiza, and more specifically, Alfredo at Amnesia, Rocky wouldn’t have enjoyed a 35-year-plus career in music. He was obsessed with the music of Ibiza from the late 80s, finally getting to play there in 1990 as part of that infamous Ibiza 90 trip with Terry Farley and a crew of influential and pioneering UK artists, including A Man Called Adam, 808 State, and The Farm, who appeared in the cult documentary “A Short Film About Chilling” shot on that famous trip.

Rocky’s first gigs were at Ku and Summum, and he would return to the White Isle every year and play whenever and wherever he could. Early guest spots on the original terrace at Space, summer slots at Pacha with X-Press 2, playing for Cream, Manumission, and also a regular guest at DC10 back when it first properly kicked off. Rocky still plays regularly on the island, but he’s getting more sleep these days! Don’t miss this chance to see a real Ibiza legend play Forest Fest this July. Don’t be lazy, get down and see him on the Emo dancefloor this summer.
